The project was an attempt to pin down an increasingly elusive value proposition for retail spaces in London’s most fashionable areas, and presented a valid model for strategically integrated digital marketing. Ogilvy Labs sponsored the initiative as part of the Rough Diamond programme.

The idea came about when two young entrepreneurs, Ross Bailey and Will Chapman, from the School of Communication Arts personally approached Ogilvy, a supporting partner of their college, because they had no retail outlet for the implementation of their great creative concepts. They were consequently set the challenge of launching and marketing a brand on a limited budget by Nicole Yershon, Director of Innovative Solutions in London. The brief was to design and create an original line of products and to use all of the digital outlets that they could freely reach in order to draw in potential customers.

After a few days Rock and Rule shut up shop, and made a healthy profit. Ross put his share into funding Appear Here. Fast forward to today, Appear Here has been chosen by designers, start-ups and international brands.
